Parents
At CCSC we beleive that the a respectful relation between parents and coaches is just as important in a swimmers success, as the relationship between swimmers and coaches. To help foster this relationship, please:
- Demonstrate respect for all our coaches.
- Make sure your swimmer is attending swim practice regularly and arrives on-time to their designated practice session with all required gear.
- DO NOT interrupt practice sessions to speak to a coach. CCSC coaches are available after practice sessions to discuss your swimmer’s development and answer any questions that you may have. You may also request a meeting with a coach that does not interfere with practice. For the safety of all swimmers, the coaches’ attention must remain on the swimmers while they are in the water. Interruptions are disruptive and discourteous to everyone.
- Unless there is an emergency, DO NOT interrupt practice sessions to speak to your swimmer. If your swimmer needs to leave early, please notify the Head Coach via text or Remind BEFORE practice.
- Let the Coaches do the coaching - that's what you are paying them for!
- Trust and support the Coaching staff in their decisions regarding swim practice, Roster-Group assignment, promotions, and swim meet event entries.
- Encourage and empower your swimmer to speak to their coach when they have questions or frustrations. Try to avoid intervening on their behalf.
Policies, Notes & Tips
- All swim practices are conducted under the supervision of the CCSC Coaching staff.
- Upon arriving at the pool, swimmers should sign in on the appropriate attendance sheet for their Roster-Group, then proceed to the locker room, if needed for changing, and then head to the designated seating area for their Roster-Group.
- Swimmers should also visit the restroom before practice begins to minimize interuptions.
- For your swimmers safety, swimmers may not enter the water until instructed to do so by their coach.
- When swim practice ends:
- CCSC has multiple Roster-Groups in the pool at the same time. Each group has a different start or dismissal time.
- Once swimmers are dismissed by their coach, they must immediately exit the pool (get out of the water), retrieve their gear and personal items, and leave the deck.
- After being dismissed, no swimmer is to return to the water. This applies even if a sibling or friend in another Roster-Group is still practicing.
- Swimmers may wait to be picked up at the designated spectator seating area or on the patio. Please be sure to pick up your swimmer promptly after their swim practice session has ended.
Exceptions for families with swimmer in different Roster Groups
- This privilege is offered to CCSC member swimmers ONLY and does NOT apply to Non-CCSC member siblings.
- Understand that CCSC coaches, pool lifeguard staff, and other parents are NOT responsible for your swimmer if you leave them at the pool unattended /unsupervised.
- Children in separate Roster-Groups may be dropped-off/picked-up at the same time.
- Waiting children may wait outside on the patio or inside at the designated spectator seating area.
- If swimmers are waiting outside, they are not to stand on or jump off the tables or benches, and are not to climb, sit, or stand on the walls, or engage in rambunctious play.
- Please make sure you children know that they should NOT leave the patio area or go out into the parking lot.
- Waiting swimmers MUST NOT disrupt a current practice session by roaming around the deck, visiting another Roster-Group seating area, or speaking to the coaches or other swimmers that are still in the water.
- It is recommended that you send activities with your waiting swimmers to keep them occupied (a book to read, playing cards, coloring books, etc.)
- Please review all these conditions with your children and set clear expectations for their behavior.
- If Natatorium staff, coaches or other parents report a problem, this privilege will be suspended.
SPECTATORS: Families of CCSC swimmers are welcome, and encouraged to observe swim practice sessions. Please review the policies listed below and share them with your guests or other adults responsible for drop-off/pick-up of your child..
- All spectators and non-swimmers are to remain in the designated bleacher seating area (north window-wall, west-side, next to entrance/exit doors). USA Swimming prohibits anyone on deck that is not a swimmer, coach or other designated persons.
- Benches are reserved for the swimmers and coaches only.
- Any children not participating in CCSC swim practice MUST be accompanied by a responsible adult. Non-swimming minor children, under 18 years of age, are NOT to be left unattended. This includes siblings, relatives, and friends. CCSC coaches, the Natatorium staff, and other parents ARE NOT your babysitters.
- ONLY CCSC registered swimmers may actually enter the water and only under the direction and supervision of their swim coach. All spectators MUST refrain from being in the water. This includes sitting on the deck or stairs of the pool with feet or hands in the water. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE!
- Restroom facilities for spectators can be found in the hallway to the right side of the guard box.
- Parents and Spectators are NOT allowed in the locker rooms. This includes use of restrooms in the locker rooms. Restrooms in the locker rooms are reserved for athletes ONLY.
- We ask that all spectators refrain from criticizing or comparing swimmers. The use of foul or otherwise offensive language or hand gestures is strictly prohibited. Persons in violation will be asked to leave the Natatorium.
- Swimmers and spectators must abide by all Natatorium Rules, as posted, and abide by the CCSC Code of Conduct.
- No chewing gum, hard candies, food or beverages (except water) are allowed in the Natatorium. This applies to swimmers and spectators.
- No running, pushing or “horse-play” on deck.
- It is unsafe to throw training gear, such as kickboards, and pull-buoys. Swimmers or spectators caught doing so, will be subject to the Code of Conduct discipline policy.
- Mistreatment of CCSC equipment, a teammates equipment, or the Natatorium facilities by a swimmer, their family, or guests will not be tolerated, and will result in disciplinary action.
Other considerations
- Please use caution when driving through the parking lot since there are so many young children coming and going from the Natatorium, who are not always going to be payng attention to traffic.
- SLOW DOWN when driving through the high school campus.
- Please DO NOT park in the handicapped parking spaces if you do not have the appropriate tags or placards.Violators may be tickets or towed at the vehicle owner's expense.
- Do not park in the loading zone area at the entrance. This area is designated for drop-off or pick-up ONLY. If you are still waiting on your swimmer, it is discourteous to other parents to park here. Please park in a parking space and keep the loading area clear.
